Firstly these are just my favourites, I have many more great items and gadgets I use when travelling and from the pictures you can see they are well worn in and used. I’ve always been great at saving and so all my accessories are affordable and space efficient. Enjoy my little list and I’d love to know about your best gadgets too!.
- Travel Documents Holder
This has become almost the most important thing to have in my bag, I keep everything in there for example, my passport, my daily medicines, booking confirmation forms and Insurance details. I got this online on wish.com for a few pound and it’s lasted me through some crazy trips!. I highly recommend purchasing something to keep the important bits safe and together!.
- Converter Plugs
The most necessary item of them all! Along with portable chargers these are 100% needed on a trip, unless your trying to take a break from technology! Although everyone still needs to a camera to capture those memories, so make sure you grab a converter so its always charged.
- Flight Accessories
I try to sleep through most of my journeys to and from locations to rest up as much as possible. These means I always have an eye mask with me and usually some earplugs too. I got these great matching items from Primark including an eye mask, passport holder and bag tag. I absolutely love the design, its simple and stylish plus the eye mask is VERY soft and thick. The worst thing is having an eye mask that doesn't actually block out the light or is uncomfortable to wear!. These items were under £10 for all three.
- Head-torch & Other Lights
So I usually take a selection of torches, I have my headlight that is great for any type of trip and is the easiest to use as you don't have to hold and point, just look around and the light follows. I have a small hand held torch or my phone torch for examining things closer, like maps. And lastly I have my book torch that attaches onto the top of pages for reading late at night. Most of us don’t realise how much we will need a torch because we are so used to light and how accessible it is to us. During my travels I’ve mostly needed it for reading, on trains/planes and in hostels, finding items in my big backpack in the middle of the night and searching for hostels at 2am. Although they have come in handy a lot more often than that and I’ll never not take one of them! I brought most my torches from Go Outdoors for between £3-£8 with my discount card.
- Microfibre Towel
This is the purchase I am most proud of. I have two microfibre towels, a beach towel and a bath towel. There is no way you could fit two normal towels in a backpack along with everything else so microfibre towels are the way to go. They roll or fold up super small, dry quickly and still do the job. I’d recommend this to everyone as its such a space saver and they are much lighter to carry!. I also grabbed this item from Go Outdoors for £12.99 with my discount card.
- Floats & Blow Ups
Whilst being super organised and efficient I always make room for fun!. I am a massive fan of the water, thats pools, baths, the sea, waterparks and the rest, so I always bring a float!. I have a blow up beach ball that folds up real small and I take that everywhere, especially the beach as I love Volleyball!. As you can see I also have some fun drinks holders that I usually use at hotel pools, these are surprisingly sturdy and only a few quid from Primark!.
- Travel Mug
Although I’ve never taken this particular mug anywhere, yet, I do always take a travel bottle or mug, you can get some great ones that clip onto your bag but this one just fits into my side pockets. It also came with a bunch of flag stickers so I can’t wait to grab a coffee in each country and to stick them on. I picked this up for around a fiver from Primark.
- Bug Repellents
Almost everywhere I’ve been, I’ve been bitten so I always make sure to take some bug repellent wristbands, wipes and bite cream for aftercare. I can’t say what brands work best but I do prefer the bands over anything, I feel they have a stronger scent and easy to wear. Pretty sure I grabbed these in an airport one time.
- Lock n Key
A very basic but useful item, I know a lot of people these days wouldn't bother as they are so easy to break but I think they are still great for keeping zips together so the bag doesn't gradually open and extra security on any bag. Another reason I always love having a lock and key with me is so that if I happen to find one of those bridges or gates that everyone puts locks on, I’m prepared, I love to take part in tradition.
- Hand Towel
This is another product most people wouldn’t think to bring but I’ve become inseparable with. This product was just £3 from Go Outdoors with my discount card and I use it almost every day when on the move. This hand towel has so many uses, when wet its great as a refreshing cloth in hot weather, if you need to wipe or dry your hands there it is or even just cleaning your sunglasses. The best parts are that its small and folds into the little bag, its detachable from the inside to use anywhere and it has a clip to attach to your bag rather than having to be packed away making it way more accessible.
BONUS BAG!
I popped into Primark recently and found this great beach bag, It comes with a mat and pillow for sunbathing, loads of pockets and is just about the perfect cabin sized bag for my next summer holiday!. I look forward to using it in June and sunbathing sand free! (almost).
