Write down everything you need to do! - I write a list every night to clear my mind, reflect on what I’ve achieved that day and to know exactly what I want to do the next day.
-
Creat goals and deadlines - This should tell you exactly what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it by. Deadlines shouldn’t be stressful but should motivate you to get things done before the next major goal.
-
Don’t procrastinate, just do it! - This goes hand in hand with 1&2, don’t just write them down, you need a plan of action to make sure you actually get them done!.
-
Everything needs a place - We all have that one drawer or cupboard that we shove lots of random things in but try to avoid this as much as possible. Creating a drawer for each group of things that work together will make it much easier when you need to find them again. Facebook Marketplace is great for finding free or very cheap storage units and organisers, you could paint it, use wallpaper inside and get creative so it matches your current decor.
-
Regularly de clutter and clean - It may seem like a massive chore but if you do it more often it won’t be! Don’t let it pile up, when you use things put them back in their designated places and remember to actually clean not just tidy up. This not only makes your place looks better but it’s a lot more hygiene for yourself and guests.
-
Don’t be a hoarder, you don’t need half the stuff you have! - Whilst tidying up look at your stuff and think do I really need this? Am I using it enough? The great William Morris said “Have Nothing In Your House That You Do Not Know To Be Useful Or Believe To Be Beautiful”
-
Donate, sell or dispose of your items correctly - Now you’ve found lots things you don’t need, try to sell them or give them to those who need them!
-
Stay away from sales, you’ll just buy it because it’s cheap! - Try not to get sucked into sales and spend unnecessary amounts because each item is cheap, you’ll end with lots more stuff you don’t need or use!
-
Ask for help (if the job is too big) - Don’t be afraid to ask a friend or family member to help out everybody needs a bit of support.
-
Now get working and don’t slack/leave a job half done - It will just pile up again!
