Wow. Just wow.
If you're like me, a bit basic when it comes to spicy food, you will absolutely love Maaya. Chef Ray makes each dish individually with such care and minor changes are no problem for him.
We went to Maaya to check out the re-furbishment on a lovely quiet Sunday evening in Feb, where we were pleasantly greeted by the host and sat at our table.
The first thing you'll notice is the stunning decor done by local artist Luke McDonnell. The peacocks are fitting as they are known to be symbolic of re-growth and rejuvenation, royalty, respect, honor, and integrity. Maaya is all of the above.
Both of us went to order Korma's but Ray insisted we tried The Vegetable Thali, a tapas of curries with naan. A dish I never realised existed and now I'm obsessed. It had just enough spice without
Included in that dish was Quorn Haryali Massala, Veg Korma, Veg Butter Massala, Dall Makhani, Bombay Aloo with Aubergine Mash & served with Peshwari Naan & Lemon Rice. See Picture 2.
We washed this down with some amazing cocktails from the highly skilled barman, Jason, who not only makes them but also designed the cocktail menu. That night I tried the Bombay Bramble, Three Berry Daiquiri & an Apple Pie On The Rocks. With so much detail in the presentation and the taste, I can not pick a favourite here.
Overall I was super impressed. Indian isn't always my first choice in a meal out due to being vegetarian but Maaya's menu is so accommodating to that and I left with my tastebuds tingling.
What more could you ask for.
